Biography
Hailing from Philadelphia, singer/songwriter Noah Guy crafts an emotionally charged, boundary-pushing style that merges his soul heritage from the city with elements of pop, hip-hop, and R&B. This distinctive approach first surfaced with his 2020 release Sumday and has since developed further through subsequent projects such as the 2021 EP is it real? along with 2022's Who's Taken Time?! (Act 1).
Raised in Philadelphia, Guy spent his youth exploring vinyl at neighborhood record stores, where he encountered productions by local legends Gamble & Huff alongside R&B figures including the Roots and Musiq Soulchild. During his university years, he intensified his musical pursuits by taking up guitar and composing tunes, later moving to NYU to pursue film studies while completing an internship at the Fool's Gold imprint based in Brooklyn. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted his return to his family home, during which period he delved more profoundly into self-recording, integrating his affinities for introspective pop songwriting, hip-hop, and rap. He promptly put out a pair of EPs, Sumday in 2020 and is it real? the following year. After relocating to Los Angeles, he unveiled the EP Who's Taken Time?! (Act 1) in 2022, which contained the songs "2 Dogs 1 Leash" and "Small Talk Carolina," the latter featuring contributions from the Spirit of New Orleans Gospel Choir.
