Biography
It might appear improbable to encounter a pop-punk outfit openly centered on Christian themes that originated on Oahu's northern shore and lists the habitually unclothed and characteristically irreverent blink-182 as its chief musical influence, yet this description fits the Hawaii-raised, Southern California-based group Olivia the Band. The lineup comprises vocalist, songwriter, and bassist Reed Cromwell alongside lead guitarist Justin Abilla, rhythm guitarist Gabe Watts, and drummer Christian Perreira. These four childhood friends from Hawaii established the band in 1995 during their high-school years. They chose the name to commemorate Abilla's sister, who passed away as an infant. Following graduation the members moved from Hawaii to San Diego, CA, and secured a deal with the Christian imprint Provident Records. Their first release, the self-titled album Olivia the Band, appeared in 2005; the follow-up, Back to Friends Where Summer Never Ends, arrived in 2006. Early 2008 brought the third album, Where We Come from It Never Snows.
