Papi Sanchez

Papi Sanchez, the rap and tropical performer born Robert De Leon Sanchez in the Dominican Republic, first engaged with music during his youth by serving as a DJ and music director at several radio stations, where he played records by others before producing his own tracks. That prior experience allowed a fast start with his debut album, 2003's Yeah Baby!, which turned into an unexpected success once the single "Enamorame" rose to number three on Billboard's Latin Tropical Airplay chart. Partial credit for its reach belongs to Sony's worldwide distribution, which brought Sanchez multiple award nominations along with solid sales and airplay in France, Russia, Belgium, and further European markets. Subsequent singles such as "Dilema," "Mano Pa' Arriba," and "Hazme el Amor en La Playa" also registered on the charts in later years, though none matched the drive of "Enamorame."
