Biography
Paths of Possession came together in 1999 as a Florida-based heavy metal band built around Randy Butman, Jay Fossen, and ex-Morbid Angel guitarist Richard Brunelle. Their punishing mix of classic Bay Area thrash and melodic Scandinavian death metal defined the group from the start. Legacy in Ashes, the outfit’s first disc, appeared independently in 2000, and the 2003 split EP Crypts of Madness followed with southeasterners Dark Faith. Metal Blade signed the band in 2004; Jack Goodwin, Nick Goodyear, and Cannibal Corpse vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher then joined and performed on both 2005’s Promises in Blood and 2007’s The End of the Hour.
