Mexican singer and actress Patricia Manterola, born Patricia Manterola Carrion, first entered the entertainment industry at nine when she appeared in the stage production Ana, la Huerfanita (Annie). Shortly afterward she contributed to a compilation recording tied to the television program Juguemos a Cantar. After taking lessons in voice and dance, she encountered producer Luis de Llano, then forming the Latin pop ensemble Garibaldi. She became a member of that group and simultaneously made her screen debut in ¿Dónde Quedó La Bolita?, sharing the cast with actor Sergio Jiménez. Her independent recording career commenced in 1994 once Garibaldi completed a concert in Acapulco, coinciding with the issuance of her album Hambre de Amor. Through leading parts in the telenovela Acapulco, Cuerpo y Alma—the Spanish-language adaptation of Charlie’s Angels created by Sony/Telemundo—plus the series Hazard in Hollywood and the feature films City of Lost Souls and Carman: The Champion, she reached her principal objectives as a performer. The 2002 release Que el Ritmo No Pare marked the first inclusion of English-language material on one of her albums.
