Pop It Off Boyz

Pop It Off Boyz first appeared via the 2005 party anthem "Crank Dat Batman," a track whose snap-infused energy echoed Soulja Boy’s earlier hit "Crank Dat." Both CG, born Courtlin Edwards, and Lil Action, born Nicholas Brown, hailed from Illinois yet drew heavily on Atlanta’s buoyant snap sound; Lil Action had spent time living in that city and absorbed its regional flavor before returning home. The pair initially recorded together as the Invisabel Criminalz, scoring a local success with "Harder Than You Thank," then adopted the Pop It Off Boyz moniker and laid down "Crank Dat Batman." By 2008 the song had ignited a wave of user-generated clips on YouTube, and that March it climbed to number 64 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. After a period of splitting and reuniting, the duo was permanently altered when Lil Action perished in a car crash in 2014. CG, later known as Mr. CG and then Courtlin Jabrae, began writing material for fellow artists while maintaining his own solo path.
