Biography
Press Play, an exuberant praise-and-worship ensemble based in Los Angeles, was launched in 1997 by multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter David Hanley to serve as a catalyst for uplifting and timely faith-driven change. The group first gained traction within the CCM scene in 2001 upon being installed as the resident band at Angelus Temple’s Dream Center, an urban community-focused congregation equipped with line-array speakers, a 52-foot panoramic screen, LED stage panels, and a powerful sound system. Renowned for its kinetic, cross-genre style and expansive multimedia productions, the outfit issued its first album, Life Is Beautiful, through Dream Records on May 19, 2009. While that record blended pop and rock elements, its 2010 successor, NY2LA, leaned more heavily into dance-pop.
