Hip-hop performer Reo Cragun quickly drew attention through his initial releases, which showcased an artist willing to channel deeply personal experiences into his sound. Vancouver, Washington, served as both birthplace and childhood home for Cragun, whose early years were marked by difficulty. With his father incarcerated for the greater part of his boyhood and teenage period, he grew up under the care of his mother and aunt. An earnest pupil, he once aspired to practice medicine, a goal that briefly appeared attainable after securing a university scholarship in biology. Unexpected events, however, compelled him to abandon his studies and confront an unclear path ahead. At the same time, he possessed notable gifts as a singer and multi-instrumentalist, having taken up a fresh instrument annually throughout his youth and gaining command of piano, guitar, violin, and trumpet. While employed at a Costco location, Cragun met, through a colleague, an acquaintance pursuing opportunities in music. The new contact encouraged him to move to California for greater prospects, a prediction that proved accurate. Relocating to Los Angeles, he issued his debut single, “Inconsiderate,” in December 2016. Blending sung and rapped passages, the track delivered a sleek yet unflinching account of romantic and personal setbacks and soon gained widespread traction. During 2017 he sustained that momentum with additional releases such as “It’s Over,” “Pesos,” “Falling,” and “Lost,” which paved the way for his first full-length project, Growing Pains. Early the following year he unveiled the EP Craig.
