Biography
Seulgi, a South Korean singer, actress, and model, gained recognition in the middle of the 2010s through her role in Red Velvet and the subgroup Red Velvet - Irene & Seulgi. During the second half of that decade, she ventured into individual projects by teaming up with peers such as Zion.T and Wendy on successful tracks, in addition to guest spots on programs including Battle Trip and Cool Kids. Her first solo extended play, 28 Reasons, arrived toward the end of 2022 and reached the third position on Korean charts.
Having attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul, Seulgi entered training with SM Entertainment, leading to her initial introduction alongside Irene in the SM Rookies pre-debut initiative during 2013. She made an early individual appearance on Henry Lau's "Butterfly" from 2014, which came out shortly before Red Velvet launched with "Happiness." Despite the group's achievements, she pursued external opportunities, including television appearances on King of Mask Singer and Law of the Jungle in Mexico, features on tracks such as Moonbyul's "Selfish" and the popular "Hello Tutorial" by Zion.T, plus contributions to multiple soundtracks.
The year 2020 saw Seulgi and Irene branch out from Red Velvet to establish the Irene & Seulgi subgroup. Their introductory EP Monster earned platinum status, peaking at number two domestically in South Korea and fifth on Billboard's World Music chart. Early in 2022 brought news of her inclusion in the K-pop supergroup Got the Beat. She achieved her solo artist launch later in the same year via the successful EP 28 Reasons.
