Biography
Canadian actor Simu Liu, widely recognized for his performances in television and cinema, also pursues pop music centered on uplifting ballads. Following prominent film roles that encompassed the lead in Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, he initiated his recording career in 2023 by issuing the EP Anxious-Avoidant.
Liu entered the world in China before his family relocated to Canada during his fifth year. He spent his childhood in Mississauga, Ontario, where academic achievement was strongly emphasized, and after finishing college he held an accounting position through 2012. Once that role ended, he channeled his growing interest in acting, beginning with background parts and occasional stunt work. Early screen appearances included uncredited roles in Pacific Rim (2013) and Beauty and the Beast (2014). Steady television employment followed, marked by a series-regular turn on the CBC sitcom Kim's Convenience and a recurring part on the NBC series Taken. His major cinematic opportunity arrived with the title role in the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe entry Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
That same year Liu stepped forward as a pop singer by unveiling the single "Don't." The ballad formed part of his debut EP Anxious-Avoidant, which also featured the track "Break My Heart" written in collaboration with Joe Jonas.
