Singer-songwriter Tatiana Hazel crafts atmospheric, eclectic material built on layered guitar textures, electronic elements, and understated rhythms, all framed by an intimate vocal style defined by her signature fluttering vibrato. After uploading clips of her original compositions from her early teenage years onward, she issued a singer/songwriter-focused EP in 2012 before shifting toward understated indie electronica on the 2017 Wavelengths EP; she expanded the sonic palette further with the more heavily produced, synth-pop-oriented DUALITY in 2020.

Raised in Chicago’s Logan Square district, Hazel absorbed the wide-ranging musical preferences of her parents and siblings, which encompassed hip-hop, metal, and Duranguense, alongside favored vocalists such as Joanna Newsom, CocoRosie, and Kurt Cobain plus lesser-known acts she found independently. She began writing songs and playing guitar at age 11, then at 13 started sharing performance videos of her material on social platforms; during the same period she also taught herself keyboards and ukulele. The resulting online following reached several thousand, leading to the 2012 release of the My Story EP, whose lilting melodies were presented in a conventional band format featuring guitar, piano, and live drums. She soon began playing local shows and working with fellow Chicago musicians, appearing on Kweku Collins’ “The Wayside” in early 2015, joining Ju on Melo’s (aka Carmelo Cianflone) “Murphy’s Law” later that year, and releasing the Dantian Beats-produced single “Wanted.” While studying at Columbia College she continued issuing atmospheric, electronics-driven tracks but ultimately departed, concluding that hands-on experience in the music industry was supplying sufficient practical insight.

Mid-2017 brought the cumbia-inflected “Dimelo,” her first Spanish-language single, followed later that year by the Dantian Beats-produced Wavelengths EP and the additional Spanish track “No Me Encuentras.” The Toxic EP arrived in July 2018, and she made her full-length debut on Downtown Records with DUALITY in mid-2020.
