Biography
A hard-charging rock outfit hailing from Sydney, Australia, the Lazys blend intense drive, memorable hooks, and a no-frills attack. Their debut full-length, Prison Earth, arrived in 2010, followed by mainstream traction in 2017 when Billy Talent guitarist Ian D’Sa helmed their third album, Tropical Hazards. Following a stretch of inactivity, the group resurfaced in 2023 with the single "Rattle Them Bones."
The Lazys came together in 2006 and quickly built a following through both their recorded output and tireless live commitments, touring nonstop and issuing three self-released EPs despite the ironic moniker before unveiling Prison Earth to strong notices. Their initial venture abroad came via several Toronto dates at Canadian Music Week, an exposure that triggered swift industry attention, a prominent booking agent, a North American management agreement, and an expanded profile on a fresh continent. In 2014 the self-titled album, which included work with Ian D’Sa and producer GGGarth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine), coincided with their Canadian tour and deepened the trans-Pacific connection. Two tracks co-written with D’Sa, "Shake It Like You Mean It" and "Black Rebel," reached the charts and prompted plans for a complete collaborative record. Moving between Australia and Canada, the Lazys and D’Sa shaped the songs that became Tropical Hazards, issued in 2018 via Warner imprint HRD Records (Canada) and Golden Robot (worldwide). The band backed the release with an exhaustive road itinerary that included a slot at Wacken Open Air. Global lockdown in 2020 placed the Lazys in a holding pattern, yet after select festival appearances in 2022 they resumed studio work and delivered the aggressive single "Rattle Them Bones" the following year.
