Formed with East Coast origins yet now operating out of Los Angeles, the rock group Dead Poet Society crafts emotionally intense music that merges dark alternative hard rock with progressive indie textures, all driven by personal and societal frustrations. Emerging in 2013, they self-released their debut full-length Axiom in 2015 before sharpening their approach across the aggressive -!- in 2021 and Fission in 2024, both appearing on Spinefarm.

The musicians connected during college years in Boston, where the original lineup consisted of Jack Underkofler on lead vocals and guitar, Jack Collins on guitar, Will Goodroad on bass, and Nick Taylor on bass. Their 2013 EP Weapons failed to register strongly at first yet built a following in Mexico that led to the band’s initial major tour. Following Taylor’s replacement by Dylan Brenner on bass, the ensemble delivered two more EPs—Axiom in 2015 and Dempsey in 2016. With the revised roster locked in, Dead Poet Society assembled the hard-hitting -!-, issued in 2021 through Spinefarm Records. Three years afterward they unveiled the aptly named Fission, a turbulent and anthemic sequence of tracks exploring struggle and personal change.
