Biography
Tom Gregory pairs an instinct for memorable melody with unflinching emotional honesty, an approach that places him in line with Ed Sheeran while setting him apart through sweeping, cinematic arena rock and a measured dose of sleek electronic production. The rock emphasis surfaced on the 2020 single “Fingertips,” while the electronic touch defined “Never Let Me Down,” two tracks that became continental hits and formed the core of his debut album, Heaven in a World So Cold.
Born in the coastal town of Fleetwood near Blackpool, England, Gregory discovered music early. At sixteen he auditioned for the first season of The Voice UK in 2012 yet was eliminated after the initial round. He soon started the band Kiings, whose EP earned rotation on Radio 1, but the group dissolved quickly. Gregory then enrolled at UCLan in Preston, though that academic stint proved equally brief. In 2015 an acting part in the BBC series The A Word supplied income that supported his ongoing songwriting.
Signing with Hamburg’s Kontor Records, he issued “Run to You” in 2017; the track attracted online listeners and established a German following that led to two tours there. Further singles—“Losing Sleep,” “Honest,” and “Small Steps”—expanded his European audience through 2018 and 2019. Breakthrough arrived with 2020’s “Fingertips,” his first chart entry in Germany and Austria, followed by the Vize collaboration “Never Let Me Down,” which climbed into the Top Ten in Austria, Germany, and Poland. All of these releases appeared on Heaven in a World So Cold, released the same year.
