Biography
Somewhere between the smooth pop sensibilities of Justin Timberlake, the introspective songwriting of Mike Posner, and the acoustic warmth of Jason Mraz sits singer Trevor Wesley, who scored a massive viral hit in 2015 via his single “Chivalry Is Dead.” Born and raised in Los Angeles, he grew up hearing everything from the Beatles to Ella Fitzgerald playing throughout his parents’ home. Drawn to every style he encountered, Wesley longed to perform, yet ADD blocked conventional lessons and forced him to devise his own methods. Visualizing the four corners of a square unlocked his grasp of 4/4 time, while matching the pitches of his mother’s vacuum cleaner showed him how to navigate the piano.
After years of circulating demos, the older Wesley finally issued his Only Live Once EP in 2013. A leading R&B outlet spotlighted the project through a recurring “Wesley Wednesdays” series, and superstar Babyface publicly endorsed the newcomer, though the EP never achieved widespread traction. The Holidays EP arrived the following year and included the single “Get 2 Know Me,” yet 2015 truly belonged to “Wesley Wednesdays” once “Chivalry Is Dead” caught fire online. Wesley’s own upload initially drove the buzz, until choreographer Ian Eastwood posted a dance video set to the track that quickly surpassed ten million views.
