Biography
Hailing from Britain, singer, songwriter, and actress Twinnie-Lee Moore—known professionally as Twinnie—has earned acclaim for her extensive stage and television credits as well as her own infectious, pop-infused country material. After early theatrical engagements on London’s West End, she rose to prominence portraying Porsche McQueen in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. Her first EP, Better When I’m Drunk, appeared in 2019; the following year her debut full-length Hollywood Gypsy climbed to number two on the U.K. Country Albums chart. An acoustic companion EP titled I Love You Now Change preceded the June 2022 release of Welcome to the Club, after which she joined the cast of the long-running soap Emmerdale in 2024 and returned to the U.K. Top 40 with her second album, Something We Used to Say.
Born in York in 1987, Moore developed an early passion for performance and studied piano, voice, and dance throughout her childhood. Initial stage experience came through dance productions at the city’s Grand Opera House, where she eventually landed leading parts, among them the role of Dorothy in a 2003 mounting of The Wizard of Oz. She attended Joseph Rowntree School before completing a three-year course in dance and musical theater at Phil Winston’s Theatreworks in Blackpool. Subsequent high-profile appearances included the 2009 touring production of Chicago, in which she played murderer Velma Kelly, as well as turns in A Chorus Line, Flashdance the Musical, and the 2011 West End staging of Rock of Ages. Her screen breakthrough arrived in 2014 with the Hollyoaks role, followed in 2017 by a part in the feature film The Wife.
Parallel to her acting career, Moore nurtured her affinity for pop and country music by composing material and performing in local pubs. After uploading songs online she secured a deal with BMG in 2017. The March 2019 arrival of Better When I’m Drunk brought its title track to number one on the U.K. Country chart, while the July single “Social Babies” also featured on her April 2020 full-length Hollywood Gypsy. That June she issued the acoustic I Love You Now Change EP; Welcome to the Club followed in June 2022. Her sophomore album, Something We Used to Say, emerged in November 2024 and included the Barnabas Shaw-produced title track alongside a duet with Max Boyle on “Take a Break.” Peaking at number 31 on the U.K. Albums chart, the record also topped multiple streaming rankings.
