Venbee, the British vocalist and tunesmith, crafts emotionally candid pop laced with drum'n'bass textures. Her breakthrough arrived via the 2022 release "Low Down," followed later that year by the anti-drug anthem "Messy in Heaven," which ascended to the summit of the U.K. Dance Singles Chart. Further entries on the singles chart arrived in 2023 with "Gutter" and "Die Young."
Born Erin Vemby Anna Doyle in 2000 in Chatham, Kent, England, Venbee first encountered music through her grandfather's piano playing. Her aunt exposed her to Carole King and Alanis Morissette, while she also absorbed the work of Rihanna and Adele. She began on saxophone, later moving to ukulele and then guitar as she began composing original material. After secondary school she enrolled briefly in a college music program before departing to concentrate on songwriting, frequently drawing verses from a teenage diary she maintained via a phone app's voice notes. Online uploads began in 2019, among them an early iteration of "Low Down" that gained viral traction. The official version appeared in April 2022 and climbed to number 59 on the U.K. Singles Chart. That September she issued "Messy in Heaven" alongside Goddard, which reached number three on the U.K. Singles Chart and held the top spot on the U.K. Dance Singles Chart for fifteen weeks. Additional Top 100 placements followed in 2023, among them "Gutter" and "Die Young" with Rudimental.
