Warrel Dane

Warrel Dane launched his professional singing career as the frontman for Sanctuary, lending his voice to five of the band’s albums, among them the 2014 reunion record The Year the Sun Died. After the group disbanded in 1994, he joined forces with two fellow Sanctuary alumni to establish Nevermore. In May 2008 he issued his debut solo effort, Praises to the War Machine. While tracking his second solo album in São Paulo, Brazil, the vocalist suffered a fatal heart attack in December 2017 at age 56. The resulting posthumous collection, titled Shadow Work, was slated for release in October 2018.
