Biography
Jacob Bannon, frontman of Converge, originated Wear Your Wounds as an experimental solo project meant to serve as an outlet for ideas that fell outside the established scope of his main band. Operating in a more ambient sphere than the abrasive approach of that meal-ticket group, the project emphasizes melody and mood rather than discord.
To expand his earlier lo-fi recordings, Bannon brought in Converge bandmate Kurt Ballou along with Mike McKenzie of the Red Chord, Chris Maggio of Sleigh Bells, and Sean Martin of Hatebreed, which led to the 2017 release of the self-titled debut. Wear Your Wounds then became a complete band for the 2019 album Rust on the Gates of Heaven, featuring McKenzie, Adam McGrath of Cave In, Sean Martin of Twitching Tongues, and Chris Maggio of ex-Trap Them and ex-Sleigh Bells. Ben Chisholm of Chelsea Wolfe and Gared O'Donnell of Planes Mistaken for Stars and Hawks & Doves contributed guest appearances on the record.
