Biography
Zero dB, a remixing duo, first built its reputation by reshaping material from a select group of European downbeat artists, most notably through bold reworkings of tracks by Peace Orchestra, Trüby Trio, and Suba. The project’s core members, Chris Vogado and Frank de Jojo—also known as Neil Combstock—established the partnership around their own imprint, Fluid Ounce, which went on to issue solo recordings by the duo alongside releases from John Kong + Moonstarr and Carmel. Their initial production effort surfaced as the single “Come Party,” which drew praise from figures aligned with the Compost, G-Stoned, and Ubiquity circles of post-acid jazz dance music; additional tracks followed throughout 2000 and 2001. In 2002 the label issued the compilation Fluid Ounce: Unmeasured, while the remix anthology Reconstruction arrived the following April. Three years after that, the pair delivered their first album-length statement, Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines, via Ninja Tune.
