Cazzette stood out amid Sweden’s 2012 EDM surge by choosing to launch their career with the first major album issued exclusively through a streaming platform. Stockholm-based producers Sebastian Furrer and Alexander Björklund formed the duo in 2011. After connecting with manager Ash Pournouri, they merged dubstep and house into the hybrid they labeled “dubhouse.” Early bootlegs of Swedish House Mafia and Kanye West tracks circulated among dedicated fans, while an official remix of Avicii’s “Sweet Dreams,” released in 2011, brought the sound to wider audiences.

That same year At Night Management, the company run by Avicii and Pournouri, signed the pair and commissioned their official remix of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World.” Their simultaneous bootleg of Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” reached the top of Hype Machine’s trending chart. Live dates soon followed at XS and Surrender in Las Vegas, Ushuaia in Ibiza, and Radio City Music Hall in New York, plus headline slots on the main stages of Creamfields, Ultra, and Tomorrowland. In 2012 the single “Beam Me Up” appeared, and Strictly Rhythm assembled key remixes and originals on the mix album Strictly Cazzette. Also in 2012 the debut album Eject made history as the first major release offered solely via streaming.

Two years afterward the single “Sleepless” earned gold certification in Sweden. The 2015 EP Desserts arrived with guest appearances from Newtimers and Sterling Fox. Despite their rising profile, Cazzette declared in 2016 that they would end live touring to concentrate exclusively on studio work; that year they issued the track “Blue Sky” featuring Laleh. In 2017 they teamed with London singer Jones for “Handful of Gold,” later included on the EP Time. Beginning in 2018 the project became a solo venture with Björklund as its sole member, yielding a series of singles that first surfaced on the continuous mix Ante Mono and then on the Stereo Mono EP.
