Wesley Bishop records and performs as A2, a British rapper, songwriter, and producer whose output merges electronica with R&B and hip-hop. Raised in Croydon, England, he benefited from a mother who nurtured musical interests shared by him and his sisters. Childhood piano lessons preceded his attraction to London rap and grime by So Solid, Dot Rotten, and Danny Weed. Intent on a calmer, more layered approach than the prevailing sound, he sharpened his songwriting, engineering, and production craft, earning notice in the mid-2010s after posting several singles and EPs. Krept & Konan covered his “Flowers x Patron” in 2015, the same year A2 joined Etta Bond and Raf Riley on “Never Did.” Around that time he also completed work on his debut LP, Blue.
