Biography
Since forming in San Francisco in 2000, Animosity have fused the guttural growl of death metal with the raw screams of hardcore and thrash. At that point the entire lineup was still attending high school, with several members just 15 years old. Three years afterward the group issued Shut It Down through Tribunal, followed in 2005 by a shift to Black Market Activities for the release of Empires. The marked development between those two records drew the attention of Metal Blade, which signed the band in 2006. Prior to commencing work on their first album for the label, vocalist Leo Miller suffered the loss of his girlfriend in a drunk-driving incident. That tragedy informed the raw intensity and emotional depth of the lyrics on the band’s third full-length, Animal, which appeared in 2007.
