Beginning in 2015, Ant Saunders applied his expressive, soul-rooted vocal approach to minimalist renditions of material by Sam Smith and Adele. He gradually introduced electronic textures and hip-hop-derived rhythms, issuing his debut album Bettertrash in 2018. The following year brought his breakthrough single “Yellow Hearts.”

A native of New Jersey, Anthony Saunders started sharing covers of songs by Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, and Drake in early 2015. March 2016 marked the upload of his original acoustic love song “Sweet Tooth.” Early 2018 saw him move into trip-hop and rap territory with the track “Time,” produced alongside Otaku. His smooth, melodic delivery soon appeared on further material from Otaku and 3G, and in June he released the twelve-track album Bettertrash. That same year he also posted his versions of songs by Drake and Joji, then closed the year with the three-song EP A Christmas Trash in December.

His breakthrough arrived in 2019 via the off-center single “Yellow Hearts,” released that June. The track spread rapidly online, collecting millions of streams before the year ended and placing him on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart in November. The next year brought the EP Bubble, which contained the singles “Pedestrian” and “MISCOMMUNICATIONS.”
