Jake Miller fuses the sensibilities of John Mayer, Mac Miller, and Jon Bellion to create a sound that alternates between high-energy party rap and polished, R&B-tinged pop. His first full-length, Us Against Them, reached the upper half of the Billboard 200’s Top 30 in 2013, and he continued issuing material annually until 2:00am in LA landed at number 18 on the Independent Albums chart four years later. The progression continued through the 2018 release Silver Lining and its 2021 sequel, Silver Lining II.

Born in 1992, Miller began circulating homemade videos while living in Weston, Florida, during high school and later enrolled at the University of Miami. He introduced himself to listeners in 2011 with the self-issued EP Summer Session and made his concert debut supporting Snoop Dogg. Spotlight followed in 2012. After joining the roster of E1 Music he issued Road Less Traveled the next year.

Us Against Them surfaced in 2013 as well, pairing introspective rhymes with acoustic-driven arrangements and glossy pop refrains; the album also climbed into the Top Five on both the rap and indie tallies. Miller maintained his yearly cadence with the 2014 EP Dazed and Confused, which featured Nikki Flores and Travie McCoy. The upbeat 2015 project Rumors preceded Overnight, whose sleek title track crystallized a shift toward the R&B-pop terrain occupied by Nick Jonas and ZAYN. In 2016 he supported Fifth Harmony on tour.

After leaving Warner Bros., Miller independently delivered the luminous sophomore album 2:00am in LA in 2017, returning him to the Independent Albums Top 20 while he simultaneously learned piano and saxophone. Silver Lining arrived less than twelve months later and included the Jabbar Hakeem collaboration “The Girl That’s Underneath.”

Signing with RED Music in 2019, he placed “Wait for You” and “Nikes” on the EP Based on a True Story. Subsequent stand-alone tracks arrived in 2020 (“Let’s Go Home,” “Wanna Be”) and 2021 (“Adderall”). That same year he released his fourth studio album, Silver Lining II, which contained “Ross and Rachel.” The follow-up EP Based on a True Story II surfaced in 2022, led by the single “8 Tattoos.”
