JORDY crafts effervescent pop centered on relationships, placing themes of heartbreak and self-worth atop shimmering, high-gloss beats. The Los Angeles-based vocalist and songwriter, noted for a smooth yet authoritative style and an expansive range, launched his recording career with the 2018 single “Be with Me.” Subsequent independent EPs—2019’s WELCOME TO THE FRIEND ZONE and 2020’s PSYCHO—helped cultivate an audience ahead of his major-label bow, the 2021 album Mind Games. Its 2023 successor, BOY, paid tribute to his younger self through openly queer material that earned a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist.

After relocating from suburban Chicago, Jordy Shulman first appeared under the JORDY moniker on the 2017 track “Gotta Leave” by Herrin and Tofû. He issued his own debut single, “Be with Me,” the following year and rounded out 2018 with “Just Friends,” “Somebody Else,” and a further Tofû collaboration from Vancouver. The independently released debut EP WELCOME TO THE FRIEND ZONE surfaced in April 2019, preceded by the singles “Stay Together” and “Irrational”; its songs examined rejection and emotional turmoil against crisp, high-fidelity pop arrangements. Another string of standalone releases preceded the early-2020 arrival of PSYCHO, which secured a deal with 300 Entertainment, a Warner Music Group imprint.

November 2021 brought the full-length Mind Games, featuring the viral cut “Long Distance” alongside guest spots from Charlotte Sands and Oston. In 2022 JORDY teamed with emma løv and Loote for the løv-issued single “Friends,” which explored platonic bonds, before returning to 300 Entertainment for the April 2023 release of BOY. Its lead track, “Story of a Boy,” reworked Nine Days’ 2000 Top Ten hit “Absolutely (Story of a Girl),” and the album’s queer-focused songs together prompted the GLAAD nomination.
