Cian Ducrot, a pop singer/songwriter and producer, draws interest through his reflective, melodic relationship songs. An appearance on The Voice U.K. helped him build a substantial social-media following before he issued his first full-length effort, the self-released started in college (mixtape), in 2020. Less than a year afterward his major-label debut single, "Not Usually Like This," appeared and was featured on the EP Make Believe, released in 2021 and soon amassing millions of streams. He first reached the U.K. and Irish singles charts with 2022's "All for You," which he quickly followed with another Irish Top Ten and U.K. Top 20 hit, "I'll Be Waiting."

Raised in Cork, Ducrot received classical instruction and acquired fluency on flute, guitar, ukulele, piano, saxophone, and drums before departing for college. At 18 he joined the fifth season of The Voice U.K. in 2016, only to be eliminated at the blind-auditions stage. He broadened his television audience by posting a series of performances and vlogs on social media, where he unveiled his first original songs in 2018.

After relocating to London to attend the Royal Academy of Music, he took a leave from his studies to finish his debut album, a set of intimate pop songs that incorporated his earliest releases. Titled started in college (mixtape), the project arrived in July 2020. Ducrot made his major-label entrance the following February with "Not Usually Like This" on Darkroom/Interscope Records; the track later appeared on the Make Believe EP that December.

Although none of his earlier material had entered the official national charts, April 2022's "All for You" reached number 19 in the U.K. and number two in Ireland. An alternate version featuring Ella Henderson surfaced that August. Another single, "I'll Be Waiting," followed in November and again placed Ducrot in the U.K. Top 20 (as well as in Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway) and the Irish Top Ten. In December 2022 he issued a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," then opened 2023 with support slots on tour alongside Ed Sheeran.
