Chris Farren and Jeff Rosenstock launched their sunshine pop-punk project Antarctigo Vespucci through the 2014 mini-LP Soulmate Stuff. After Rosenstock ended Bomb the Music Industry! in 2013 and Farren’s group Fake Problems also split, the two connected in New York, where Farren brought a set of songs to his friend. They tracked the material with Gaslight Anthem drummer Benny Horowitz plus guest contributions from BtMI’s Laura Stevenson and Latterman’s Mike Campbell. Soulmate Stuff arrived in early 2014, blending Rosenstock’s punk foundation with the pop-punk approach Farren had honed in Fake Problems. Although both viewed the effort as a one-time collaboration, they pressed ahead with a full-length debut, Leavin’ La Vida Loca, which surfaced the next year. Rising solo commitments soon pushed Antarctigo Vespucci aside until 2018, when the pair carved out studio time for their second album. Polyvinyl and Big Scary Monsters released Love in the Time of E-Mail late that year.
