Born Enoch Armani Tolbert in Philadelphia, Armani White recognized his desire to rap while still a child and never wavered from that path. He began writing rhymes in early adolescence and spent time in recording studios before high school. Commercial output arrived in the late 2010s with tracks such as "Public School," the Sango collaboration "Casablanco Freestyle," "Onederful," "Stick Up," and "Touché." Several of these songs appeared on Keep in Touch, the 2019 EP he dedicated to his father, who had died of prostate cancer. After a series of standalone singles and guest features, he delivered the second EP Things We Lost in the Fire in 2021.

The rapper and singer, who describes his style as "happy hood music," worked independently for years and issued projects including Keep in Touch before achieving wider recognition with the ebullient "Billie Eilish" in 2022. That N.O.R.E.-sampling viral hit brought a Def Jam contract, White's first Billboard Hot 100 placement, and the follow-up single "Diamond Dallas." Road to Casablanco, his next EP, arrived in 2023. Built on a sample of N.O.R.E.'s "Nothin'," the track "Billie Eilish" caught fire the year after its creation and gained additional momentum once Def Jam acquired it. White released "Diamond Dallas" that August, weeks before the song entered the Billboard Hot 100. Further 2023 singles with Denzel Curry and A$AP Ferg both appeared on Road to Casablanco. He also joined a version of Macklemore's "No Bad Days," paired with TroyBoi on "Shut Shit Down," and issued the solo single "BREATHE."
