Biography
In 2016 the six-member K-pop act Astro entered the scene on the Fantagio roster, presenting polished visuals and an upbeat, rhythm-driven style. Their sound blended hip-hop rhythms with gentle vocal layers, resulting in a string of EPs bearing seasonal titles that continued into 2017; the following year they delivered their first studio album, All Light.
Originally assembled under the name iTeen Boys, the lineup consists of leader JinJin, MJ, Cha Eun-woo, Moon Bin, Rocky, and Yoon San-ha. Late 2015 brought the official reveal through the reality program Astro OK! Ready, which paved the way for the group’s first EP, Spring Up, issued in early 2016. The track “Hide & Seek” helped the project reach number six on the Billboard World Albums chart. Several months afterward, the follow-up Summer Vibes repeated that same chart position. Performances across the United States, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand preceded the year’s final seasonal release, Autumn Story.
The 2017 EP Winter Dream concluded the four-part seasonal series, after which Dream Part.01 and Dream Part.02 appeared before internal issues at the label postponed further activity. Roughly eight months later the group returned with Rise Up, their sole 2018 project. Early 2019 saw the arrival of All Light, which led the Korean album chart and entered the top ten of the U.S. world ranking. Later that year they issued the mini-album Blue Flame.
