Emerging from obscurity as an enigmatic masked quintet, BLACKGOLD spearheaded a fresh surge in nü metal. Their initial 2022 release, the single “It’s Art,” announced their arrival, after which they issued a trio of EPs: the self-titled Blackgold, followed by Volume 2 in 2023 and Back with Another One in 2024.

The U.K.-based lineup—vocalist Spookz, guitarist Judge, bassist Six6, DJ SP3, and drummer Lux—came together in 2020 and drew directly from the foundational era of nü metal, echoing the approaches of Slipknot, Korn, and Limp Bizkit. Shortly after unveiling “It’s Art” that year, they delivered their debut EP. A subsequent collaboration with Fever 333 produced a high-voltage reinterpretation of Cypress Hill’s “I Ain't Going Out Like That.” In 2023 the band launched its stage presence by opening for Limp Bizkit throughout Europe and, mid-year, unveiled the follow-up EP Volume 2. Additional festival appearances at Leimentaler Openair, 2000trees, and Download Festival preceded a run of shows alongside Welsh rap-reggae metallers Skindred. Closing out the year, they joined Houston’s Hyro the Hero on the retro-styled hip-hop cut “Old School Sound.” The following January brought the Marilyn Manson-esque “Today's My Day,” setting the stage for the May arrival of their third EP, Back with Another One.
