Emerging during the early 1990s, alternative rockers Blind Zero made history as the first Portuguese rock band to earn gold certification at home while performing entirely in English. The group put out its initial EP, Recognize, in 1995; the pressing vanished so fast that the release quickly gained status as a collector’s item. Also in 1995, the band delivered its debut album, Trigger, working alongside Ronnie S. Champagne, the producer associated with Jane’s Addiction and Alice in Chains. Flexogravity, issued in 1996, showed the musicians exploring hip-hop textures, whereas the same year’s Transradio took an acoustic direction. One Silent Accident arrived in 1999 after sessions with indie rock producer Don Fleming and earned strong critical praise. The band’s cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” later served as an unofficial anthem for the Euro 2002 Soccer Championship. A year afterward, A Way to Bleed Your Lover joined the discography as another well-received and commercially successful album.
