Biography
San Diego, CA's Burning the Masses traffic in an especially violent strain of deathcore laced with the instrumental intricacy of math metal. The band issued a demo in 2005 and spent the next couple of years honing material and cultivating a modest local audience before self-financing and self-distributing the mini-album Volatile Existence in 2007. Mediaskare Records quickly signed the group, repackaged that recording for wider release, and then dispatched the lineup of David Montenegro (vocals), Arde (guitar/vocals), Chris (guitar), Jake (bass), and Chason Westmorelan (drums) back into the studio for a full-length debut. Issued in 2008 as Mind Control, the album mixed three reworked tracks with nine fresh compositions, all delivered with the same unrelenting brutality.
