Biography
Hailing from Southern California, Candice Boyd works as a contemporary R&B singer and songwriter under a major-label deal with Epic. During the early 2010s she first gained footing in the business by contributing vocals, both subtle and prominent, to recordings from Flo Rida, David Guetta, and Nelly. An eventual partnership with Ne-Yo led her to his Compound University roster, and that connection produced a featured turn on Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint. Boyd joined Ne-Yo on the 2015 track “She Said I’m Hood Tho,” the same year she earned her initial songwriting credit by co-writing Tamar Braxton’s “Never.” In 2016 she appeared on DJ Quik and Problem’s “Rosecrans,” then launched her solo career on Epic that June via the French Montana collaboration “Damn Good Time,” which later received added placement on the Epic Lit playlist. Her follow-up single, “Make Me Over,” surfaced in March 2017. A few months afterward she guested on Eric Bellinger’s Cannabliss EP.
