Carl Louis, a Norwegian creator of bright and joyful electronic dance tracks, first rose to prominence through his partnership in CLMD. He established this act alongside his friend from youth, Martin Daniell. The pair initially put out material under the moniker Carl Louis & Martin Danielle. Their breakthrough arrived around 2010, as cuts including "The Message" received backing from prominent EDM figures like Axwell and Chris Lake. This exposure resulted in multiple successful releases along with reworkings of songs by Estelle and Bruno Mars. In 2012, the collaborators adopted the CLMD name and launched Up North Recordings, securing a Sony distribution agreement. That year's "Black Eyes & Blue" achieved massive success in clubs and on airwaves, while the next year's "The Stockholm Syndrome" surpassed it by attaining sextuple platinum status within Norway. The act performed extensively across Europe and North America, serving as openers for Madonna and Tiësto during Oslo dates. After the 2014 output "Wild Men" under CLMD, Louis exited the project to pursue individual endeavors, leaving Danielle to keep the name and reinterpret it as standing for Create Love, Music and Dreams. Warner Music welcomed Louis aboard in 2015, where he issued "Apogee" and "Aeroplane" during the ensuing months.
