California singer/songwriter Charlie Hickey fuses introspective indie sensibilities with a gentle soft-rock approach, shaping confessional material that confronts weighty emotional themes through a delicate hand. Among his ties to similarly inclined musicians stands Phoebe Bridgers, who placed him on her Saddest Factory imprint for the 2022 arrival of his first full-length effort, Nervous at Night.

Raised in Pasadena, California, Hickey entered a household steeped in music, his parents having previously toured with the group Uma. He began composing original material at a young age, crossing paths with Phoebe Bridgers at thirteen—while she was still attending high school and only beginning to attract notice—after performing one of her compositions. Bridgers connected him with producer Marshall Vore, and the pair developed an ongoing partnership once Hickey reached his early twenties. He joined the Saddest Factory roster, where Bridgers contributed vocals to a pair of tracks on his 2021 debut EP, Count the Stairs. The following year saw the release of his debut album, Nervous at Night, also on Saddest Factory.
