Chase Shakur, an Atlanta artist immersed in atmospheric progressive R&B, pairs gliding vocals with introspective compositions. He first appeared on record in 2018, then continued releasing singles through 2022 before unveiling his self-released debut EP, It'll Be Fine. The following year he signed with Def Jam and delivered the smoother It's Not You, It's Me, later teaming with Destin Laurel for the 2024 track "Passenger Seat Princess."

His path began with East Atlanta ciphers, after which he moved from rap to R&B by the late 2010s. Fully devoted to music, he refined his abilities and assembled the collective Forever N September. On the independent label of the same name he issued his earliest commercial singles in 2018 and 2019. Releases increased sharply in 2020, then accelerated again in 2021 through the brooding slow jams "Pray Slow," "Want Me," and "Comes with the Damage," which stood as his strongest material at the time. Those tracks were soon overtaken by most of the nine-song EP It'll Be Fine, released that June. Its performance earned him a Def Jam contract, which brought "Sink or Swim" in April 2023 and, two months later, It's Not You, It's Me featuring the second single "x's n o's." The set expanded in September 2023 as It's Not You, It's Me...It's Love with three new tracks added. The two-song Stunt-Man Pack surfaced in 2024, alongside the Destin Laurel collaboration "Passenger Seat Princess."
