Biography
Closeness represents the electro-pop venture launched by spouses Todd and Orenda Fink, each previously recognized through their contributions to the Faint and Azure Ray. The two first crossed paths during a 2002 tour and wed three years afterward, yet separate commitments repeatedly blocked any joint effort despite their shared interest. Everything shifted once Orenda faced major heart surgery in 2015, prompting the Finks to reconsider what mattered most. Following her recovery they headed into Todd’s studio, where they captured tracks shaped equally by personal experiences and external touchstones including Crystal Castles, the Knife, the Zombies, John Carpenter, Alan Watts, Carl Jung, and the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Issued on Graveface Records, the duo’s first EP, Personality Therapy, reached listeners in February 2017.
