Biography
Daniel Diges García entered the world on January 17, 1981, in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, Spain. He launched his working life as a television performer before moving into music. His breakthrough part came as Gato on the Antena 3 teen drama Nada Es Para Siempre, which ran from 1999 to 2000. Additional credits followed on Hospital Central, Max Clan, and Aquí No Hay Quien Viva. By the middle and later years of the 2000s he had shifted to stage musicals, taking leading roles in the Spanish productions of Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar, We Will Rock You, High School Musical, and Mamma Mia! Selection for the reality series Eurovisión: Destino Oslo placed him in competition to represent Spain at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo, Norway; victory arrived on February 22 with the number “Algo Pequeñito.” At the final he placed fifteenth, trailing winner Lena of Germany. Shortly before that event, Warner Music issued his self-titled debut album, produced by Óscar Gómez and built mainly from original material along with three covers—Billy Joel’s “Just the Way You Are,” Michael Bublé’s “Everything,” and Robbie Williams’ “Angels.” The record reached the Spanish Top Ten, while “Algo Pequeñito” climbed to the Top Five on the singles chart.
