Biography
Formed in Stuttgart, Germany, during 2000, the death metal outfit Debauchery originated from the efforts of vocalist and guitarist Thomas "The Bloodbeast" Gurrath, also recognized as "Blood God" or "Bluttgott," who first operated under the moniker Maggotc**t prior to adopting the current name and issuing the demo tape Zombie in 2001. Their initial full-length release, Kill Maim Burn from 2003, showcased the group's affinity for gruesome subject matter through contributions from Gurrath alongside bassist C**tkiller and drummer Wargrinder, focusing on themes of warfare and bloodshed that also informed their visual presentations and live performances. This stylistic approach carried through subsequent records including Rage of the Bloodbeast in 2004, Torture Pit in 2005, Back in Blood in 2007, Continue to Kill in 2008, and Rockers & War in 2009. A surprising disclosure in 2010 indicated that Gurrath had been working as a high-school philosophy instructor during daytime hours until educational authorities discovered his musical pursuits and compelled a decision between the professions, leading him to select Debauchery.
