Deepsky

J. Scotty G. and Jason Blum, natives of New Mexico, make up the progressive trance duo Deepsky. Their mid-'90s Rampant Records releases included Tempest, adopted as the theme for MTV's electronica program AMP, along with In My Mind; both tracks appeared on the label's Planet Rampant II singles compilation. The pair later joined Fragrant Records, where they worked with Shawn Parker under the Dayspring Collective name and issued the album Spark. Deepsky earned wider dance-music recognition through the 1998 single Stargazer and through remixes created for Carl Cox and Kaistar. After moving to L.A., the group signed with the City of Angels imprint and developed Stargazer into an EP. In 2000 they teamed with world vocalist Jai Uttal on the ethereal "Cosmic Dancer," which Mixmag named the fourth best single of 1999. An early-2002 remix edition of the track surfaced on the duo's Kinetic debut album, In Silico.
