Deon Kipping, a contemporary gospel songwriter, singer, and producer, entered the world in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where an early attraction to music quickly took hold. While still attending high school, he launched his production career, receiving guidance from soul songwriter Gerald Isaac—a fellow Bridgeport native—and absorbing both the practical mechanics and the inherent challenges of the industry through his involvement with a professional production team. His songwriting efforts in gospel also yielded notable results, including the genre hits “Praise Him in Advance” for Marvin Sapp and “Incredible God, Incredible Praise” for James Hairston & Youthful Praise, along with additional credits. In the summer of 2004 he established the praise & worship band and vocal group New Covenant; two years later the collective issued the album Real Life. Real Worship. under the billing Deon Kipping & New Covenant. A subsequent recording contract with the gospel and Christian imprint Verity Records paved the way for his solo debut, I Just Want to Hear You, which appeared in 2012 and climbed to number six on Billboard’s gospel chart. The four-track Place Called Victory EP arrived in 2016.
