Biography
A tenor vocalist in contemporary gospel, Desmond Pringle has combined pastoral leadership with A&R duties and has written, produced, and performed alongside more than a dozen fellow artists. Growing up in a Pentecostal home in Charleston, South Carolina, he stayed deeply engaged with church life and appeared in various gospel musicals. His relocation to Chicago in the early 1990s marked his entry into the music business, where he began by crafting songs for T.D. Jakes and Rev. Clay Evans. Additional sessions placed him with Yolanda Adams and Twinkie Clark, and his voice joined the mix on R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly.”
His personal discography emerged at wide intervals. The self-released Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs arrived first in 1999, captured live inside a Chicago studio on the National Day of Prayer. Every later project registered on Billboard’s gospel chart. Loyalty, issued by Tommy Boy in 2001, became his highest-placing album at number nine and preceded Be Still on Central South in 2006 and Fidelity on Kingdom in 2013. Throughout the second half of the 2010s he maintained outside collaborations while issuing singles such as “Let’s Adore Him” and “Get Us Through.”
