Flint Eastwood functions as an alt-pop endeavor centered on the creative output of Detroit-based singer/songwriter Jax Anderson. Drawing from an expansive palette that spans Spaghetti Westerns, Motown, and mainstream dance pop, Anderson has cultivated a profile defined by her unyielding approach and vigorous live performances. The project began as a quartet leaning toward rock, issuing its first EP, Late Nights Bolo Ties, in 2012, where bluesy guitar lines intertwined with vivid electronica beneath Anderson’s commanding voice. Several years afterward, Anderson recast Flint Eastwood as a solo outlet emphasizing a richer, synth-pop direction. The refreshed project resurfaced via the Small Victories EP in 2015. One year later came the collaborative single “Saviors,” featuring Gosh Pith and Syblyng, prompting Anderson to join New York’s Neon Gold Records. Her first release on that imprint, “Queen,” marked a further shift toward elaborate, explosive pop. Early 2017 brought a joint effort with eclectic Flint-based singer/rapper Tunde Olaniran.
