Georgina launched her solo career as a Latin pop and rock artist based in Spain with the 2009 album Ensayo y Error. Born Georgina León in Valera, Venezuela, she first recorded as one half of the rock en español duo Tisuby & Georgina alongside singer, songwriter, and guitarist Tisuby González. The pair secured a deal with Líderes Entertainment Group after performing on the Venezuelan television program Cuanto Vale el Show, which led to their debut album Sueños Simples in 2001. That release drew little notice, but their follow-up, Ruleta del Amor from 2003, recorded in Spain with producers Luca Rustici and Miguel Blasco, fared far better. It yielded the international hit single “Por Qué No” and brought the duo widespread praise along with a large fan base. No third album appeared, however, after the partnership ended and Georgina left Venezuela for Spain. Now based in Madrid, she began a solo career through Warner Music Spain. Her first solo release arrived in April 2009 as the five-song Casi EP. With the exception of a cover of Nirvana’s “Lithium,” those tracks later appeared on her full-length debut Ensayo y Error. Produced by Pablo Cebrián and Ismael Guijarro, the album featured the lead single “Con Solo una Mirada” and reached a modest position on the Spanish albums chart. Reviewers noted that the Latin pop and rock sound of Ensayo y Error recalled the work of Julieta Venegas and Amaral, and Georgina promoted the record with a concert tour across Spain. Besides her own vocals and guitar, the band lineup includes Luis Jiménez Oti on guitar, David Elorriaga on bass, Javier Martín on drums, and Pablo López de la Llave on piano.
