Biography
From the Netherlands comes Goddess of Desire, who fuse ‘80's styled thrash and power metal with extravagant stage spectacles—fireworks, Manowar-meets-Gwar costumes, and scantily-clad young maidens—under the banner they themselves label ‘Ancient Metal.' The claim is made in earnest. Count August (vocals/bass), Grev Drake (guitar), and Emperor Mark (drums) generally support the spectacle with skillful execution and sharply crafted material. Accompanied at every turn by exotic dancers Lilith and Delilah, the group issued Let Us Win this War in 1997 and Symbol of Triumph in 1998, afterward adding second guitarist Lord Arydon along with Der Knuppelmeister on drums and pressing onward in pursuit of global supremacy (or a close approximation) with the 2002 release Conquerors Devine.
