Abigail launched her recording efforts via the 1992 single “I Feel You” and maintained consistent dance-music releases in the years that followed. Although that track marked her debut, genuine recognition arrived when “Could It Be Magic” entered Britain’s NRG charts at number one. Throughout the first half of the decade she issued a series of techno reinterpretations of well-known songs, among them “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Constant Craving,” and “Losing My Religion.” These interpretations, together with several original compositions, were assembled on her first album, Feel Good, which appeared in 1995. A subsequent remix EP appeared, after which she performed regularly on the club circuit and placed a single with Pulse-8 Records. When that imprint ceased operations shortly thereafter, Abigail paused her career to welcome her daughter Ilana. Returning to the studio, she partnered with Thunderpuss 2000 on the 1999 single “Let the Joy Rise,” an immediate and substantial club success. Two further collaborations with the same production team followed: the widely played “If It Don’t Fit” and, the next year, “You Set Me Free.” Collectively these recordings recast her as a club-friendly diva, a persona she readily adopted following an extended period of pursuing mainstream acceptance in the field.
