Heriot emerged from Swindon, England, in 2014 when lead guitarist Erhan Alman joined forces with bassist and vocalist Jake Packer plus drummer Julian Gage. The British metalcore outfit quickly gained attention for ferocious concerts that blended hardcore, industrial, doom, post-metal, and death-metal textures. Their earliest releases, the 2015 EP Violence and its 2016 follow-up World Collapse, leaned toward sludge and hardcore aggression. After Packer relocated to Bristol for university studies that same year, the band entered a three-year recording pause.

Activity resumed in 2019 once the lineup expanded to a quartet with the arrival of rhythm guitarist and vocalist Debbie Gough, whose broad sonic palette steered the group toward fresh territory. The industrial-tinged single “Cleansed Existence,” issued in 2020, marked their return; the track’s crushing weight prompted the removal of prior material from streaming platforms. Profound Morality arrived in 2022, merging dense hardcore with post-metal and noise accents that earned the quartet a loyal following inside the U.K. underground. Century Media signed them the next year. Working alongside Sylosis frontman and former Architects guitarist Josh Middleton, with mixing handled by producer Will Putney, the band completed its assured debut album, Devoured by the Mouth of Hell, which reached listeners in 2024 and balanced crushing force with melodic nuance.
