Hora Zulu

In 2000, after wrapping up a short-lived spell with Lagartija Nick, guitarist Paco Luque launched a new venture alongside several veterans of the alternative metal circuit: Javi Cordobilla of SinPerdón, Alex Bedmar of Perpetual, and Lakademia’s Aitor Velázquez together with DJ ChicoNar. Throughout 2001 the musicians laid down numerous demos under the temporary banner Supastarz Sound System, yet when their debut album, Me Duele la Boca de Decirlo, appeared in 2002 they had already adopted the name Hora Zulú. The ensuing decade brought steady touring—among the highlights a support slot for Slayer—alongside continued recording, yielding five albums by 2012, all driven by an impassioned fusion of trash metal, flamenco, and hip-hop.
