Biography
A Los Angeles-based duo inclined toward sleek, shadowy surges of dark electro-pop, In the Valley Below came together in 2011 around vocalist/guitarist Jeffrey Jacob, a Memphis, Tennessee native, and vocalist Angela Gail, who hails from Muskegon, Michigan. The pair, who also produce and market their own beer, blend lavish power-ballad dynamics with crisp, airwave-friendly indie pop that echoes the terrain between Phil Collins and the Kills. After rolling out multiple singles and EPs, they delivered their Arts & Crafts debut album, The Belt, in August 2014. A February 2015 appearance on Conan followed, and later that year their track “Peaches” charted on Billboard’s alternative and rock songs lists. Summer 2017 brought the Elephant EP, fronted by the single “Bloodhands (Oh My Fever).” Their second album, The Pink Chateau, arrived in 2019 alongside a companion promotional film, with the Dave Sitek–produced single “Rise” featured among its tracks.
